Why Plastic Lanterns Lose the Battle Against Time: The Power of Hand-Forged Metal

Outdoor lighting creates the true atmosphere of a home. Today, stores are flooded with cheap plastic or aluminum lights. Although they might look good at first, disappointment comes after just two winters – faded colors, cracked plastic, and rust.

If you are looking for quality that lasts for generations, honest blacksmith craftsmanship is the answer.

Honest Handcrafted Work Without Plastic

In our workshop at schmiedelaterne.eu, we do not use plastic or cheap substitutes. Every single lantern is crafted from solid, high-quality steel.

My name is Martin Bartko, and I have been dedicated to blacksmithing since 2002. For many years, I crafted forged gates and railings for the demanding Austrian and German markets. Every piece you find in my e-shop today is a unique original, handmade by my own hands.

Triple Rust Protection

I design our lights to withstand any harsh weather conditions. That is why they undergo top-tier surface treatment:

  • Solid Steel – a strong foundation free of fragile alloys.
  • Hot-Dip Galvanizing – the lanterns are submerged in liquid zinc, ensuring perfect rust protection from both inside and out.
  • Powder Coating – a final layer baked in an oven guarantees color stability and extreme resistance to UV radiation and frost.

An Investment for Generations

A hand-forged lantern is not just an ordinary light. It is a piece of art that increases the value of your property and will reliably serve for generations.
